Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

We collect information users provide directly, information needed to operate our applications, and technical information generated by app usage. For the SK Peak website, this may include contact messages and basic hosting or analytics logs if enabled. For applications, the information collected depends on the features the user chooses to use.

2. Chalk and Google user data

Chalk uses Google Drive, Google Docs, and Google Sheets read-only permissions to let users browse folders, documents, and spreadsheets they choose, download or export selected Google Docs and Sheets, and process that content for lesson-planning features. Chalk does not modify, upload, delete, or write back to Google Drive, Docs, or Sheets content.

The Google user data accessed by Chalk may include the following categories, depending on what the user chooses to connect or open in the app:

• Google account and authorization information needed to connect the user’s Google account, maintain the user’s session, and request read-only access to selected Google services.
• Google Drive folder and file metadata, such as file names, folder names, file IDs, MIME types, and other information needed to let users browse and select folders, Google Docs documents, and Google Sheets spreadsheets.
• Google Docs document content that the user selects or opens in Chalk, including document text, structure, headings, and exported document representations used for lesson-planning features.
• Google Sheets spreadsheet content that the user selects or opens in Chalk, including sheet names, rows, columns, cell values, and related spreadsheet structure used for planning calendars, pacing guides, trackers, schedules, and classroom reference tables.
• Derived local data created from selected Google content, such as extracted text, teaching-template information, curriculum or calendar context, local search indexes, and vector or embedding data used to provide search, reference, and AI-assisted lesson-planning features.

Chalk may store extracted reference content, document text or HTML, spreadsheet content, teaching-template information, curriculum or calendar information, search indexes, and vector/embedding data locally so the app can provide search, reference, and AI-assisted lesson-plan generation features.

3. Security and data protection

SK Peak uses administrative, technical, and local-device security procedures to protect the confidentiality of Google user data and other sensitive information handled by SK Peak applications.

Technical protections include requesting only the Google scopes needed for Chalk’s user-selected features, using read-only Google Docs and Google Sheets access, transmitting Google API requests over HTTPS/TLS, and using encrypted HTTPS connections for supported third-party service provider communications. Chalk does not intentionally transmit Google Docs or Sheets content over unencrypted network connections.

Chalk stores imported or extracted Google content locally on the user’s device for search, reference, and lesson-planning features. Local data is protected by the security controls available on the user’s device and operating system, such as user account permissions, device access controls, and disk encryption where enabled. Users can further protect locally stored Chalk data by keeping their device updated, using strong device authentication, and enabling operating-system disk encryption.

Administrative protections include limiting access to any user-provided support information to personnel or service providers who need it to provide support, troubleshoot issues, maintain security, or comply with legal obligations.

SK Peak does not sell Google user data or use it for advertising.

4. AI service providers

Some SK Peak app features may use third-party AI service providers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, or other API-based AI services we may support in the future. When users enable or configure those features, selected user content, extracted document content, prompts, or related context may be sent to the chosen provider to generate responses, embeddings, summaries, or other AI-powered outputs.

Google user data is never used to train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning foundation models.

Users are responsible for selecting providers and reviewing the provider’s terms, privacy policy, and data practices. SK Peak is not responsible for how third-party AI providers process, retain, or use data submitted to their services, except where required by applicable law or a separate written agreement.

5. How we use information

We use information to provide, maintain, improve, secure, and support our website and applications; to enable user-requested integrations; to troubleshoot issues; to communicate with users; and to comply with legal obligations.

6. Sharing and sale of data

SK Peak does not sell Google user data. We do not share Google user data with third parties except as necessary to provide user-requested app functionality, comply with law, protect rights and security, or with the user’s direction or consent.

Google user data is never used to train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning foundation models.

7. Google API Services User Data Policy

SK Peak’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

8. Data retention and controls

Application data may be retained locally on the user’s device until the user deletes it, disconnects an integration, removes the application, or uses available app controls to clear data. Users can revoke Google access at any time through their Google Account permissions page.
